WOOD MAKES EXIT FROM NEWCASTLE THUNDER
Newcastle Thunder have bid farewell to prop forward Mikey Wood, as the player makes an immediate transfer to Hunslet RLFC.
Wood first joined Newcastle as a Thunder player ahead of the 2020 season, having played for the club on loan from Huddersfield Giants in 2016 and 2017.
Making eight appearances this season, the club’s switch to a training environment with more sessions taking place during the day in the week has proven incompatible with Wood’s commitments outside of rugby, with both parties agreeing to a parting of ways as a result.
Director of rugby Denis Betts said: “Unfortunately we haven’t been able to find away to combine our switch to more day-time training sessions and Mikey’s commitments.
“We wish him all the very best for the future and wish him well for the rest of the season with Hunslet.”
