As the Rugby League season kicks off this weekend, Newcastle Thunder is set to make a thunderous entrance into the League One competition under their New Ownership, with preparations in full swing for their inaugural game against Hunslet. 

This week has seen Newcastle Thunder's dedicated squad and coaching staff meticulously preparing for the challenges ahead. With rigorous training sessions, tactical discussions, and strategic planning, Head Coach Chris Thorman's team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure they hit the ground running in their quest for success from the get-go The anticipation among Thunder supporters is palpable as the team gears up for their first competitive fixture. The amalgamation of experienced players, promising talent, and the backing of passionate fans position Newcastle Thunder as a formidable force in League One. Head coach Chris Thorman has a clear plan of needs from his players "As an ambitious Head Coach I have standards, and those standards are non-negotiable for me and my team. If the players have the right attitude, I can work with them. Hard work and a genuine want to pull the shirt on this season will go a long way to allow us to be competitive and provide a good grounding to work from. We have some talented lads in our ranks and we will turn a few heads, but the hard work has to be taken from the training field onto the pitch. We will have more North East lads playing in Thunder Colours this weekend than we ever have had and that's down to the community games strength, something which we have to be proud of and it's down to them players to shape the future of the game in the North East ."
