WHAT’S ON: Newcastle Thunder v Sheffield Eagles

Newcastle Thunder host Sheffield Eagles in round eight of the Betfred Championship as live rugby league returns to Kingston Park.

Kicking off at 3pm on Friday, April 7, here is everything you need to know ahead of the fixture.

TICKETS

Tickets are still available to purchase for the Betfred Championship fixture and are available from £10 for adults and £3 for under-16s. You can book yours HERE.

Newcastle Thunder season tickets will also be available to purchase from our ticket office and club shop. Although we have already had one fixture at home this season there is still great value with prices from just £99 for adults and £10 for under-16s allowing access to the remaining 12 fixtures at Kingston Park.

If you haven’t done so already, supporters who have already purchased their season tickets can collect theirs from the ticket office prior to kick-off.

The ticket office will be open from 12pm on match day.

MATCH-DAY TRAVEL

Stadium parking for this fixture is FREE for all supporters. It will be available on a first-come-first served basis.

Stadium parking is FREE for the entire 2023 season.

Stagecoach will be running their usual X47 bus service, which picks up and drops off directly outside Kingston Park Stadium. Single tickets are available from £2 for adults and 60p for under-16s. The stadium is also served by Kingston Park and Bank Foot Metro stations, both of which are a five-minute walk away. Both stations are on the Airport branch of the Tyne and Wear Metro with trains running every 15 minutes. Find out more HERE.

RETAIL

The club shop and ticket office based in the East Stand will be open from XX until kick-off and will re-open for half an hour after the final whistle.

Make sure you look the part and grab your 2023 Newcastle Thunder shirts, which are on sale now.

HOSPITALITY

There is no match-day hospitality at our fixture against Sheffield Eagles.

PRE-MATCH

Our East Stand Tap & Tackle will be showing live Super League on screens in the bar. Adding to your fix of rugby league, the rivals round will be shown throughout the day, starting at 12:30pm with the Hull derby.

Our Thunder Community’ Learning Disability Rugby League squad will be taking to the field prior to our first team’s 3pm kick-off in a match against the same opposition, Sheffield Eagles.

The LDRL fixture will kick-off at 1:15pm and anyone who has purchased a match ticket is invited to attend and support the team as they kick-start their season.

Turnstiles will open for supporters at 1.30pm. Entry to the stadium bowl can be made through the South East turnstiles.

New to this season, the Stakeford Tyre Challenge returns and will take place on the pitch prior to kick-off. If you fancy the chance to win some great prizes, make sure you enter via our social media posts relating to the challenge.

FOOD & DRINK

The Tap & Tackle will be serving an array of snacks, food, and drinks for supporters to enjoy.

KICK-OFF

The club’s new mascot Thunderbolt will take to the field to introduce your Newcastle Thunder side back to Kingston Park moments before kick-off.

Our LDRL side will be acting as guard of honour for the Betfred Championship fixture.

HALF-TIME

The Thunderbolt challenge will be taking place at half-time. A lucky individual picked from the crowd will go head-to-head with a Thunder player in a virtual race across the pitch.

Our LDRL side will be playing an exhibition match against Sheffield Eagles at half-time.

POST-MATCH ACTIVITIES

The East Stand Tap & Tackle will remain open to the public, following the final whistle.
