Thunder sign Wynne on loan from Hull FC

Newcastle Thunder is pleased to confirm that Connor Wynne has joined the club on loan from dual-registration partners Hull FC.

The 22-year-old has featured 36 times for the Super League since making his debut in 2019 against the Salford Red Devils.

The centre who is equally at home on the wings or at fullback has also enjoyed loan spells at Doncaster RLFC as well as fellow Betfred Championship club York City Knights.

A regular feature for the Black and Whites during 2022, Wynne’s stand out performance came against Toulouse Olympique XIII, where he scored a hat-trick in their 48-12 win.

Newcastle Thunder head coach Chris Thorman said: “Connor’s an outside back with a bit of super league experience, which can only benefit this Thunder side. He can play in a few different position as well so he offers us a bit of utility value.

“I see him as a centre and don’t think we’ve really had any strength in depth in that position. I think having a bit of strike in the centre positions is quite important and Connor will definitely bring that.

“We’re very fortunate to be in the position with Hull FC with the dual-registration agreement where we can bring in players like Connor to help strengthen the squad.”
