Chris Thorman names his first Thunder squad of 2023

Newcastle Thunder head coach Chris Thorman has today named his 24-man squad for tomorrow’s pre-season friendly against Keighley Cougars.

Kicking-off at 4:30pm at Kingston Park stadium, the fixture will be the first hit-out for Thunder under new head coach Chris Thorman.

Thorman has selected all players available to him which includes 12 debutants, recruited through pre-season.

New signings Rhys Clark, Alex Clegg, Max Flanagan, Evan Lawther, Mac Walsh, Marcus Walker and Nikau Williams are all included in the 24-man list as well as the club’s international trio of Curtis Davies, Robert Tuliatu and Alex Young.

Hull KR’s loaned duo of Connor Moore and Jack Potter are also included in the squad for the club’s first home game of 2023, which also sees three trialists in Joseph Hall, James McGurk and Nathan Rushworth named.

The friendly will also see the return of many from the 2022 squad with club stalwarts Connor Bailey, Ted Chapelhow, Jay Chapelhow, Alex Foster and Brad Gallagher also featuring alongside local lads and academy graduates Jake Anderson, Nathan Clemmitt and Alex Donaghy.
