The Newcastle-based company will become the club’s Main Partner adorning the front of a new-look, black and white striped kit.  Thunder will alternate with their existing purple principal kit, 50% of matches set to be played in the new look.

Adopting a design that is synonymous with the city, Thunder will return to the sport’s second tier for the first time in 12 years. Under the stewardship of director of rugby Denis Betts and new head coach Eamon O’Carroll they will take further steps towards their ultimate goal, winning the Super League by 2030.

Having been the principal partner of Thunder’s rugby union stable-mates Newcastle Falcons since 2018, Stelrad’s addition of rugby league to their sponsorship portfolio comes as the sport gets set for its biggest year in both Newcastle and the wider north east region.

With the Super League Magic Weekend and the opening game of the Rugby League World Cup taking place at St James’ Park, a further three games in the men’s competition taking place at Kingston Park Stadium and Thunder’s return to the Betfred Championship, the professional game is set to enjoy unrivalled exposure in 2021.

Coinciding with the Newcastle Rugby Foundation’s biggest ever investment in the community game, with four, full-time members of staff working on club development, increasing the number of players and school engagement, it is an exciting time to welcome a new partner to the fold.

Newcastle Thunder chairman Mick Hogan said: “I am delighted to welcome Stelrad on board at Newcastle Thunder.  Their backing of professional sport in the city is unparalleled with their position as principal partner of Newcastle Falcons and their support of Newcastle United.

“They are an award-winning company who are leaders in their field and we are looking forward to working with them during our first season back in the Betfred Championship. The new shirt looks fantastic and marks what a huge year 2021 will be for rugby league in our region.
