NEWCASTLE THUNDER NAME SQUAD FOR WHITEHAVEN

Newcastle Thunder are able to welcome back host of players from injury ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Championship clash with Whitehaven RLFC at Kingston Park Stadium (KO 3pm)

Head coach Eamon O’Carroll has made five changes to the 21-man squad named ahead of last weekend’s trip to Batley as Thunder aim to maintain their good form at home.

Jake Anderson, Jake Shorrocks and Calum Turner are available for selection after missing out last week through combinations of knocks and illness, while Evan Simons also returns following his serving of a one-game suspension.

There is also the inclusion of on-loan hooker Harry Bowes who joined up with the squad on a short-term loan this week as the club adds cover in the front row.

Looking to secure a sixth win of the season, Thunder will be keen to keep up a solid run of results against the Cumbrians on home turf, having taken victory in their last four encounters at Kingston Park (two league and two friendlies)

Whitehaven however will be eager to make it a double for 2021 and leap-frog Thunder in the Betfred Championship table by maintaining a good run of form of their own.

With more than 1,300 tickets sold already for Sunday’s game, it is shaping up to be a superb afternoon with fans still able to book their tickets by clicking here.

For the first time this season, sales will continue right up to kick off with sales also available at the ground.

Supporters are strongly encouraged however to make their bookings via the online box office and receive a digital ticket to show at the turnstiles, avoiding the need to queue to purchase.
