NEWCASTLE THUNDER CONFIRM NEW LOANS

Newcastle Thunder have bolstered their options at hooker ahead of Sunday’s Betfred Championship clash with Whitehaven, with Wakefield Trinity’s Harry Bowes joining on a short-term loan.

Bowes is a product of Wakefield’s scholarship programme who made his Super League debut for the club in 2020 against Leeds Rhinos.

The former Shaw Cross Sharks player has featured in a total three top-flight games since signing his first professional contract last summer and is highly rated by the staff at Belle Vue.

Having been forced to play Connor Bailey in the position last week due to injury and suspensions in the club’s own stocks, Bowes will provide Thunder with additional flexibility this weekend.

At the same time, the club are also able to confirm loan spells for Reece Dean and Lewis Young as the half-back and fullback head to League 1 clubs.

Dean will link up with Rochdale Hornets this weekend, with a rolling loan that will be reviewed week-by-week, while Young will see out the 2021 season with Hunslet at the South Leeds Stadium.

Thunder’s 21-man squad for Sunday’s game will be announced at 12 Noon on Friday, July 30.
