TOULOUSE OLYMPIQUE V NEWCASTLE THUNDER CANCELLED

Newcastle Thunder’s away trip to face Toulouse Olympique will now not take place, following the UK Government’s latest review of foreign travel guidelines, which comes into effect this week,

The RFL has confirmed the further impact on Toulouse Olympique fixtures in the Betfred Championship that this will have with France remaining on the amber list,

With a 10-day quarantine period therefore required for all on return to the UK, Toulouse’s home match against Thunder has been cancelled, along with their home game against Oldham, scheduled for July 3,

With no available match slot for a rearrangement between then and the end of the regular season in September, it has not been possible to find an alternative date for the game.

Thunder’s schedule for 2021 will now see the club play a maximum of 21 games, with the next fixture taking place on Sunday against York City Knights at the LNER Community Stadium.

The RFL will await the next Government update in July before decisions are made about the four remaining home fixtures scheduled for Toulouse between July 24 and September 11.
