LOAN SIGNINGS BOLSTER NEWCASTLE THUNDER

Newcastle Thunder will bolster their squad for upcoming rounds of the Betfred Championship with the addition of Connor Wrench and Ellis Longstaff, who will join the Tyneside club from Warrington Wolves on an initial two-week loan.

A promising pair of young talents, Wrench and Longstaff are graduates of the Wolves academy system and earned their first Super League appearances during the run in of the 2020 season.

19-year old Wrench is a back row / centre who has shone as a Wolves youngster. He was named captain for the England Academy side during their 62-0 victory over Wales in 2019 and helped himself to a hat trick of tries during the game.

Longstaff, is an exciting back row who secured his opportunity at the Halliwell Jones Stadium after impressing for the Wolves reserve grade.

Recognised at under 16 and Academy level for England, his first taste of Super League action was a victorious one, as he came off the bench to contribute to an impressive 37-12 win for the Wolves over Hull.

The duo are immediately available to head coach Eamon O’Carroll and are eligible for selection for this weekend’s Betfred Championship trip to London Broncos.

A 3pm kick-off, Sunday’s game will be streamed live on the RFL’s OuRLeague platform as Thunder look to get back to winning ways against the former Super League club.

Passes for the game are available for just £4.95 if booked before midnight on Saturday 8th May and can be bought at www.rugby-league.com/livestream
